Get everyone to a strong, shared baseline. You will set up clean, reproducible environments and learn to move code out of notebooks into services you can actually ship and maintain, with a quick refresher on the ML fundamentals the rest of the programme builds on.

Production AI lives and dies on its data and pipelines. You will build repeatable workflows that version data and models, track experiments, and catch quality and drift problems before they ever reach users.

Go well beyond calling an API. You will design LLM and agentic systems with retrieval, tools and guardrails, then evaluate them honestly for quality, cost, latency and safety.

This is where most teams get stuck, and where this programme spends real time. You will package, serve, scale and monitor models, and set up CI/CD so changes ship safely and roll back cleanly.

Bring it all together on a real problem. You will scope, build, deploy and present a working AI system end to end, reviewed by faculty and practitioners, and walk away with a portfolio-ready project.

The AI Forward Deployed Engineer programme is a three-month, AI-first certification offered through the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), IIT Delhi. It is designed for working professionals in India who can already write code and want to move beyond training models in notebooks to building, deploying and operating production-grade AI and machine-learning systems. The programme is delivered live online with weekend sessions and an optional on-campus immersion at the IIT Delhi campus in Hauz Khas, New Delhi.

This forward-deployed engineering programme is built to close exactly that gap. Across applied foundations, data and model pipelines, large language models and agentic systems, and deployment, scaling and MLOps, you progress from first principles to a deployed capstone you ship and present end to end.
This programme is best suited to professionals who already have a coding background and roughly two or more years of work experience. It is particularly relevant for:
Learners typically come from technology hubs across India, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Gurugram and Noida, as well as remote-first teams. Because the programme is delivered live online, you can participate from anywhere in India while continuing to work full time.
The curriculum is organised into five build blocks. Each module pairs faculty-led teaching with hands-on labs so you apply every concept as you learn it, rather than studying theory in isolation.
Establish a strong, shared baseline. You set up clean, reproducible environments, move code out of notebooks into maintainable and testable services, and refresh the machine-learning fundamentals the rest of the programme builds on, including training, evaluation and error analysis, and calling foundation models to design your first workflows.
Production AI lives and dies on its data. You build repeatable pipelines that version data and models, track experiments, validate data quality, detect drift, and orchestrate multi-step workflows so problems are caught long before they reach users.
Go well beyond calling an API. You design large-language-model and agentic systems with prompting, structured outputs and function calling, retrieval-augmented generation and vector stores, tool-use and multi-step autonomous agents, and you evaluate them honestly for quality, cost, latency and safety with guardrails in place.
This is where most teams get stuck. You package and serve models with containers and APIs, handle orchestration, autoscaling and reliability, add monitoring, logging and observability, and build CI/CD for models with safe rollouts and rollbacks, optimising for cost and performance at scale.
You bring everything together on a real problem: scope it, define success metrics, build and deploy an end-to-end AI system, monitor it, iterate with faculty and practitioner reviews, and present a portfolio-ready project.
You build with the tools that AI engineering teams actually deploy on, including Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, vector databases, Git and major cloud platforms. The emphasis throughout is on the modern, production AI engineering toolchain rather than on any single framework, so the skills transfer directly to your day-to-day work.
The AI Forward Deployed Engineer programme runs over three months, almost entirely live online, with faculty-led weekend sessions designed to fit around a full-time job. Expect roughly six to eight hours of work each week across live classes and self-paced labs. Live sessions are recorded and shared afterwards so you can revise or catch up, and dedicated office hours and an active learner community support you throughout.
An optional campus immersion at IIT Delhi gives you in-person sessions and labs, direct interaction with faculty, and time to network with your cohort face to face. The immersion is an add-on; the core programme can be completed fully online.
On meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, you receive an e-certificate issued by the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), IIT Delhi. A participation certificate is issued if the full completion criteria are not met. The certificate is digital and easy to add to your LinkedIn profile, CV and portfolio. As per IIT Delhi CEP policy, no placement or job is guaranteed, and CEP programmes do not confer IIT Delhi alumni status. The programme is offered by the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), IIT Delhi.
The programme is intended for graduates with a coding background and around two or more years of work experience. You do not need prior formal AI or ML experience or an advanced mathematics background; comfort with programming matters more, and foundational ML concepts are covered in the first module. There is no entrance examination; applications are screened and shortlisted by IIT Delhi as part of the admissions process. Final eligibility is as per the IIT Delhi CEP notification shared during admissions.
The total programme fee is ₹1,77,000, comprising a programme fee of ₹1,50,000 plus 18% GST. No-cost EMI options are available across 3, 6, 9 and 12-month tenures through our NBFC partners, subject to lender approval, starting from approximately ₹14,750 per month on the 12-month plan. The admission process is simple: submit your application through the official link, complete screening and shortlisting by IIT Delhi, receive your offer letter, pay the fee to confirm your seat, and join orientation and the cohort start. Fees are paid to the IIT Delhi CEP account, and the application fee and refund policy are as per the CEP notification.

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs 2025 report projects 170 million new roles from AI and technology adoption by 2030, while UNCTAD estimates the global AI market could reach US$4.8 trillion by 2033. Engineers who can take AI from prototype to reliable, monitored production are among the scarcest and most valuable in this market.
